QOTWE is just a fun question that doesn't get a follow-up like QOTD does.

Um...why does the bed tilt from the rear?

.

Damned youngsters.

The 3D effect isn't making it any prettier.

It's as different from the '55 & '56 as the '59 Desoto is from the 2 preceding model years.

Kinda sorta yes and no. The '58 - '60 generation was named Lincoln Continental Mk III, Mk IV and Mk V, successively. In '61 every Lincoln became Continentals, with the Mk series returning in '68.

It's hard to find an unattractive GM car from '61.

My grandfather's. There's another picture with more of him in it, but my mother has that one.

Kinda sorta. It was heavily facelifted in '58, with a new nose and those weird tailfins that Mercedes eventually copied.

Oh, Christ. Even I forgot about this thing.

.

Here ya go...

Many more, but it's a lot harder to kill one of those than any of its competitors. The fact that the Beetle outsold every other economy car at the time doesn't hurt, either.

I was so damned cute.

I see Vegas at cars shows as often as I see Pintos or Gremlins. Just the nature of the class; few people are willing to "save" an economy car.

My grandfather had a '55 210, when it was just a used car. Medium blue with a white roof. This is me and my siblings sitting on its trunk.

Except for the '58, I'd take any Chevy from that decade over the '57. The fins ruined the whole design.

1961 full-size Oldsmobiles. There was something bizarre yet graceful about those upside-down tailfins.
