Austria?! G'Day mate!
That's one of my pet peeves on the subway. I don't know why they do that. I'm a man, and have broader than normal shoulders, and I sit with my legs together, and I lean forward slightly, so that my shoulders aren't mushing the people next to me. If there is one of those ignorant "leg spreaders" on either side of a…
Since he signed, he's been the best player in the Premiership. Haven't seen a mid-season signing work out this well since.... ever. Better than Asprilla or Kanu's stuff from over a decade ago.
I was going to say the same thing.
That's right. Anyone with an opinion or actual life experience outside of your borders is "thick". Cunt is not a gender specific insult outside of America. It's not, that just the way it is.
No, I went to the University of Limerick. I grew up in Donegal though, and the only people I knew who played hockey when I was growing up, went to the Protestant schools in the east of the county by the Northern Ireland border.
If that's what you read from that, fair enough - that's not what I meant, or what I said. The show is as racist for having a lack of people of colour, as it is homophobic for having a lack of gay characters.
The insult isn't gender specific outside America. In Ireland, I've only ever heard men being called cunts - hundreds of times, and it's hardly ever directed at women. Using your logic, should the insult "pussy" be directed at females, because that's the gender the insult comes from?
The hurling connection has nothing to do with it really. Hockey is much more popular in Protestant communities/schools than Catholic communities/schools in Ireland, as it is seen as more of a "British" sport.
Each week I'm convinced that Jezebel is becoming more and more a parody of itself.
"Gentlemen, you can change your behavior to avoid the creep label. Don't come whining to me that you don't like the behavior you would have to have, when I can't do a goddamn thing to avoid being called a cunt."
Same here. An insult is an insult. Cunt is only a gender specific insult in North America. It's not in the UK, Ireland, Australia or New Zealand. It's a regular swear word. It gets the same reaction as most others. Then I moved to America and found out it was suddenly an abomination.

Did you just threaten violence? That is NEVER the answer!
Of course people have a problem with the violent assault. It's just that in the grand scheme of things, that's not the biggest issue here.
Aren't you saying pretty much exactly the same as the author, except with the male and female roles reversed?
How do they even come up with these odds? Does this factor in all the people she's ever dates, from high school until she's old? What about hook-ups, do they count? THIS IS FLAWED MATH!
This comments section..... yeesh! Yesterday the featured comment was a picture of the guy who wrote the article, followed by a ton of insult-laden replies. Very constructive.
Isn't that the point he's trying to make?
