Someone had also asked if McDevitt saw the ages-old Assassins vs. Templar battle resolving itself. McDevitt said nope, those two groups are going to fight for a good long while longer. "As for the Assassin Templar storyline resolving," he said, "I don't think so. Its been going for 80,000 years already. Why stop it

If good video game writing comes out a month after release with the benefit of context, and factual "reviews" come out right around release and toe the line between good and snap-judgment/mediocre... Where does that put Kotaku's "we played a pre release version and can't make a call" reviews?

Obviously the fact that it launches on two consoles which haven't released yet is going to depress early sales.

You forgot to include the best marketing / PR bullshit nonsense line I've ever heard: "... there’s no specific reason why one’s 720p, one’s 1080p."

+100 Focus

You like their approach and I don't. Good day to you.

Based on the single player, they could have given it a Yes?? Did you read the review? This is the opening line: "Let’s just admit it. Battlefield 4 was never a game you were going to play for the single-player."

I get the sense you take things too literally. I'm an avid reader and have never seen a "no" on a blockbuster game. Not saying they don't exist, but I've read a lot more "not yet"s and "maybe"s at the end of what most would consider a "bad" review than is justifiable in a supposedly binary rating system.

Then they should wait to release a review. It's obnoxious to review a game without passing any judgment. A review is inherently backwards looking. What they published is a preview.

It's misleading to call the article Kotaku published a "review"... "Not Yet"?? Really?? Just couldn't stop yourselves after those first two letters?

What a shame

Kotaku just can't write a "no" review, its unbelievable.

I love hearing about all these cancelled pre-orders, because I'm desperately trying to get a freaking PS4 on launch day and they are impossible to find!

All I know is that I'm the motherfucking Arch-mage of Winterhold and nobody is taking that away from me

I encountered a strange glitch whereby, long story short, I was completely invincible. Couldn't start a mission (the game seemed to think I was already in one), and couldn't buy ammo or weapons (luckily I was fully stocked), but I could otherwise interact with the world as normal. But I was invincible.

Fantastic first 2 sentences. Bravo.

"Oh dear. I wanted to love this game...."

There are probably no more games like this than there have ever been, we've just moved into a blockbuster-heavy, AAA title super marketing era over the last 5-6 years.

Some day. Some day there will be a Kotaku game that gets a "no". I hope I'm still alive.

So this dev is just making things up?
