Of course UPS and FedEx make money: they have no legal mandate to serve anyone for whom a delivery is unprofitable. But if you're trying to send something to Unalakleet, the USPS is about it. We have a lot of infrastructure systems that are not profitable—airlines (sorry, look at the history), non-toll public roads,…
And, yet, Gizmodo's slogan is "The Gadget Guide," not "Stuff Gadget Freaks Find Interesting."
And, funny thing, the bicycles were quicker than going about on foot, and easier to bring ashore than tanks, jeeps, and motorcycles. The Canadians were tough fighters. And if this is a dis on old technology, let's talk about how many horses were used and killed on the eastern front.
Good stuff. Thanks! I knew a fair bit about these balloons, but this is fascinating.
No, but adding that variable to the model increased its predictive power by an order of magnitude. Specification error....solved!
Ouch, and all that, but one good thing came of this story. "Tunica albuginea" would be a great twitter/Jezebel handle.
Astoria, as in Oregon? Or Queens? Either way, it's kinda gotta suck. I liked Astoria, OR, but it was a bit down in the dumps, to say the least.
Apparently, though I don't remember it (wrong demographic?) there was a bra shop in Anchorage called Twin Peaks. It's also a tee vee show, and a neighborhood in SFO, and they're all gettin' sued.
I'm gonna need to see an approach plate before this is useful to me. (Ok, I'm not a pilot, unless FS counts.)
A me too here. I finally fell out of love with Spotif. WTF does it play the J.Geils Band on a Neil Young station? Fail.
I think you're right, there. Amazon would be taking a big risk on WebOS, and there's no obvious way forward for app development the way there is for Android. And by putting a pretty front end on Android, and going with a walled garden for its apps, Amazon may have successfully de-kiudged the OS. I really had high…
My sense is that he's trying to be funny, and that he utterly failed. Too much positive reenforcement from dudes and bros will do that. Maybe he was light-headed from the fumes from his Axe body spray. Looks like his party took a turn for the douche.
I think you're right. Kodachrome is impossible to develop. I think C41 is out there, but like arj8138 says, it's just farmed out more, like it was before "one hour" photofinishing.
And I wonder if these cameras used the C41 developing process, which is pretty much dead. It's hard to get that sort of thing processed any more.
The problem was less with the software than the hardware. I loved my pre, but the thing just couldn't stand up to being used daily. It finally fell apart. I got a refurbed one, and my wife got a really good case for it, so she uses it now and really likes it. Its UI is dead simple. I'd love to have a WebOS Kindle.…
WebOS is fantastic. It makes Android look like the kludge that it is. It's not terribly hard to develop for. And technically it's far superior to Android. It's not a failed OS—it's an OS that two companies failed to manage properly. That's a big difference.
That's true. My comment was more about explaining his virulent reaction to ladybits than about casting aspersions. Just trying to understand where the dude's coming from.
Maybe he's gay? Nothing wrong with that, but Dan Savage did get in a shit load of trouble for comparing ladybits to "a canned ham dropped from a great height." (The lesbians verbally stomped him in The Stranger.) And an ex girlfriend o' mine got all up in this gay dude's face for complaining about all the "gash" at…
Really, Ben. Or just go sit in the ER at Pitt Memorial Hospital, and wait in line with the Browns and Poors who are really sick, and have no health insurance, because of you and your Sigma Nu buddies in Congress, asshat.
