Are you surprised a primarily American blog with an American blog writer wrote an entry using typical American terminology and not ones that cater to your own cultural preferences?

We are really all one species - race typically refers to skin color and physical features, while ethnicity refers more to cultural background, which is sometimes tied more directly to nationality and/or religion as well.

Her little pause before saying the word "ugly" killed me. I know she had this awesome retort, but you could tell she thought it was a bad word, and it hurt her a little bit. I'm glad she has an awesome momma who encourages this good self esteem.
