You are spot on in that the one off, strange, and custom jobs will be left that machines can not automate away. Workers need to be able to transition into those niches. Whether there are enough of those niches is another story.
The solution is to provide free or highly subsidized vocational training or higher education tuition to displaced workers so they can find better jobs.
