A solid battery array will work wonders. One that can be charged via land power or solar panels before the emergency, and ran by solar afterwards. Preferably a system which is wired to switch gear with the HVAC system before it to be ran by line power only.

I genuinely respect that response. Because one is pleased with the modification, even if only aesthetic to that individual, that is truly the only justification needed.
