Too often I hear this. I drive an 89 automatic civic, a miata, and a v8 240sx in Texas cities. I have no problem with appropriately planning freeway entries and safely getting up to speed. And I’m sure the fit is faster than my honda.

I have to agree with power steering and power brakes. Before these things cars were rowdy awesome beasts, for men and strong women. After, they became appliances with no need for special training and caution to operate. I'd give a nod to the starter, and roads as well.
