We are really going to make a story about a corticosteroid now? This is far different from PEDs and to try to even plant them in the same galaxy is universe-length-reach.

But we don’t have a police problem in this country...

I saw that video after I posted this. Pretty funny. I mean it is testing after all. It’s where you need to iron out the wrinkles. Can’t say I recall any pit issues with them over the past 3 years whereas other teams have had them. I wouldn’t be worried about it.

Wrong tires?

Eh. Not sure you can blame the current regime for Mercedes (or much of the Honda debacle for that matter) since those choices were all down to Ron Dennis. He made some fatal decisions, such as preventing other teams from running Honda engines, that could have made a difference in how things worked out.

So how do you attribute the size requirements McLaren imposed to not be the problem here?

Fair point. Though I will point out the overall speeds are still 15 kph away from last year’s testing speed trap. So we’ll see how things shake out in the next day or two. I’d expect that time by Ricciardo to be displaced tomorrow and definitely by Thursday.

All I see is this from Key:

I’m not offended. Not at all. I own one F1 hat and it’s a Toro Rosso, so I’m a fan. I just think picking apart speed trap data in the pre-season is a waste.

The issues concerning the size zero were around the turbo not getting significant boost. The claim was because the package was so compact, it would be impossible to get the boost to bring it level on power to the other units.

WDC could be interesting this year.

And pre-season testing speed trap data means...what exactly?

Ignore speed trap data in testing. It’s really pointless.

With Toro Rosso, they allowed them to do a configuration they though was best, and so far it’s bearing fruit, reliable and quick so far.

Of course you realize that Ricciardo’s performance isn’t just because of the motor.

I’m still not clear on why they’re even testing this setup. They claimed even prior to the test that this is more of a 2017 B-spec design and that the true 2018 package will be at Melbourne...why not test that now?

Maybe the F1 insiders were right, that the issue wasn’t with Honda

honda rossos to out perform the renaults

Well except their issues prior to this testing period were largely all PU related. Hell, you can watch the engine not even fire up at the HQ in the Amazon series.

I think that would technically make Alabama Hell’s asshole.
