The term “trouser cough” is simply amazing.

It’s certainly not McLaren’s fault the power unit has never worked. If it were just a problem with in-season development or something maybe his argument would be convincing but essential components of the engine have never worked properly from day one.

Very tall order. The engine simply has never worked. And with only one team running their units, I’m not sure how they can ever catch up to the others.

All he really said was that it wasn’t working out with McLaren

I’ll take that bet.

Riiiight. Laughing at having the worst engine. Ok. Got it. This is, and has always been, a short term situation. New engine rules in 2021 mean they are fighting for the now. Red Bull won’t be with Honda for the new rules...they might not even exist. Horner seemed to hint strongly at Aston Martin entering the fold.

From what I’ve understood a large part has been down to Honda simply refusing any assistance of any kind. They have to do things their way and only their way.

Red Bull will either be sold to Porsche (or some other suitor) or out of the sport completely. They’re stuck with Honda power after next season, regardless of how STR does. Renault dropping them after next year really was a bombshell.

Based on...what evidence exactly? They’ve regressed this year.

Because of the broken recovery unit, they are down that much during critical times on each lap. So straight up comparison probably has them down 80-90, with ERS you hit the 150 mark...at least. I mean Honda at one time (several times really) claimed to have passed Renault on reliability and power. Why bother believing

As the copyright holders, they can revoke permission at any time as they see fit. They own the property.

A short term boost is the only thing worth aiming for here. There are only 3 years of these engines left. Honda coming good with only 2 engines running in the sport would be shocking to say the least. It’s not just that they haven’t made progress, their units simply don’t work. Energy recovery has never worked. Fuel

The Renault unit is about 30 bhp down on the leaders. The Honda is about 130-150 bhp down. Yet Alonso is still able to drag that car into Q3 at times during qualifying. How can you possibly not think their car is pretty competitive if they can still post a decent time with a shitbox engine attached? Most everyone

Pretty amazing that going through the drive-thru is now considered part of his job. Get the fuck outta here.

Ricciardo, while being funny, has a point. Verstappen is wildly aggressive. He needs to tame his style to last long enough in races. Today’s mishap was completely on him and I wouldn’t be surprised if his driving style has knock on effects that have caused some of his other issues as well.

Well I’m not the only one that feels this way. Christian Horner even said today that penalizing manufacturers is something that needs to be looked at.

I prefer true development that works. Honda has been hampered by only having 2 units actually getting miles. If there was a method for them to be able to pile on miles to test their engine in real world conditions, I would think it would be a welcome opportunity to turn things around. A mule option is the only

Which doesn’t always translate to real world...as shown by Honda the past 3 years.

F1 should utilize a mule cars. New engines to be tested solely in mule cars by development drivers. Engine development should be unlimited with the caveat that newly developed engines must be provided to all customer teams at the same time as the works team. Costs for development cannot be passed on to customers

But we don’t have a police problem in this country...
