It’s kind of like having to explain a joke. If you have to do it, it’s not a good joke.
So if you have to explain to people that these are supposed to look dirty and dilapidated, then it’s probably not a good look and they should be fully restored, instead of just mechanically maintained.

That’s understandable since a PC isn’t normally connected to a controller or TV. But almost all PCs are connected to a mouse/keyboard and monitor.
