This was a thing? I haven't had Girl Scout cookies in years, but I probably would have purchased some (despite the ridiculous price increase over the years) had I known this!

I can't speak for others, but I think that the problem with how some (not all!) men approach women is the expectation that the contact is welcome and bound to be successful. There's a feeling of entitlement in the interaction: I'm approaching a woman, she'll appreciate the attention, and this is bound to result in a…
My second dog was like that. She could grasp things between her paws and, eventually, she even managed to open doors using the door knob. She was smart, but definitely not intelligent!
Nobody bats an eye when the word is used in the States. It's not considered vulgar at all.
I thought exactly the same!
As Chaelvc noted, being a nice guy isn't the same as being a Nice Guy. The latter comes with a sense of entitlement in regards to obtaining a relationship (or sex) with a female friend, particularly on the Internet where they lament that they never get girls because they're too nice.
Except many (not some) of the comments made against this particular cosplayer were not solely in terms of aesthetic accuracy and used quite a number of racial epithets. If it were strictly a matter of accuracy I may agree (though I don't feel that it should exclude people from participating), but it's not.
I'll reiterate what others have said: disregard the blackface. There's too much tied into its history to ever make it appropriate or socially acceptable — even if you have the best of intentions.
I didn't necessarily see this as being racist either. It's homophobic and it's down-right rude, but nothing seemed to be racist.
She could claim that she's a fan of Steven Seagal's character in "Driven to Kill" if the relationship doesn't work out!
I am fairly certain that the woman who got the stars tattoo later recanted, claiming that she lied in order to avoid getting into trouble with her father. Unfortunately, the harm was already done to the artist, who had to flee after all of the negative publicity.
I've noticed much of the same thing. PC game communities may not be amazing bastions of safety and acceptance when it comes to women gamers, but my experiences have been far better on PC than console. I know that I tend to be far more cautious giving away my gender when playing multiplayer console games.
I enjoyed the movie quite a bit. The marketing was so poor that I didn't even realize that they were based upon the Barsoom series until I watched the movie.
Ferrets. They'll play with everything almost their entire lives (they never really grow up and many will act like kittens every waking second of every day) and they sleep a good 18+ hours a day.
Ah, APB. I still play that occasionally, though as a F2Per who won't spend money on weapons and gear I tend to run into all sorts of unhappiness.
He does, though it's only occasional now. He's been enamored with Brian Williams lately.
There was a similar study years ago that was essentially this. It studied grapheme-color synesthetes and found that certain number/letter-color combinations were consistent for a fairly high percentage of the group. This was back in 2005 or 2006, I believe, and involved a larger group of people.
We should just revert back to patronyms and matronyms. Or the full genitive!
