All clubs of all kinds use the promise of access to an existing social group of like-minded peers to get people to join. It's not a feature unique to the Greek system.

Have you ever been a member of a club? Did you pay club dues to buy food and drink for events, or maybe rent out a space to meet? That's what a fraternity is. Everything else is accumulated bullshit.

I have a friend, white, from Arizona, who didn't experience much diversity growing up. The other day, we watched a black woman have a wig malfunction on a windy day. We chuckled about it, and then he turned to me and asked, in genuine curiosity, "Why do so many Black women wear wigs?"

Nope. statutory rape laws exist for a reason, and it's to protect those too young to have a grasp of their own judgement. That's what "too young to consent" means. It's the same reason minors can't enter into contracts.

I misread that the girl was 16, not under 16. I mentally skipped the words "younger than". My mistake.
