Even the guy in the background is like "Maybe if I close my eyes it will go away"

Dan Savage loves that line on anti-gay talking heads. Paraphrased:
It ties into St. Augustine of Hippo. Augustine was one of the early church leaders who essentially threw out the bible and played Mad Libs with Aristotle instead. He's the one who said "The scriptures teach us how to get to Heaven, not how the Heavens go."
A big part of this emphasis on the rationality of the Divine…
Well that's just a size thing. You know the old joke: Americans think 250 years is a long time, Europeans think 250 miles is a long drive.
Side note: States in the US are very different from counties in the UK. AFAIK, the closest analogue would be Scotland after devolution, but 50 of them. There are lots of compacts that create interstate standards on various issues, but They mostly govern their own internal affairs.
That was one of my favorite scenes in the series. When Toby just quietly picks up the phone and says "Zip code. Fargo. Right now" and Charlie walks in approximately 10 SECONDS LATER? I die.
Please. It's a Horror Show! It's "Based on a True Story" the way Texas Chainsaw Massacre was. Whether it actually happened doesn't matter much. It's about the story!
Fuck it. Wear it to the grocery store. Wear it to work. Wear it to the laundromat.
1984 is not what we're headed toward. Brave New World was much more prescient. Orwell thought we would be actively oppressed by a Stalin-esque dictatorship.
I'm so sorry about your brother. A successful vaccine is much, much more likely then any post-infection treatment to kill this monster for good. "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure" and all that"
A virus is a DNA/RNA packet in a protein shell. Antibodies kill viruses by latching onto a specific part of the protein shell, called "markers". A vaccine like this essentially destroys the DNA interior and leaves the harmless shell, which is injected into the body, which then produces antibodies for the markers.
Me neither. Afterwards I just feel like I went swimming in an oil slick.
Every mainstream psychological and medical association agrees that while the causes of homosexuality are probably varied and complex, it's not a disorder and there is no psychological component.
It's a common misconception that there's no reproductive advantage to homosexuality, therefore it can't be natural. Two points
You need to be very, very careful when you talk about "parental behavior and attachment". Those are the excuses that fuel dangerous and harmful "conversion therapy" to this day.
The general conclusion the research seems to be drawing is that sexual orientation is determined by... drumroll please... complex factors.
"More likely" does not mean "likely". A different article I read on the same subject said that 8 older brothers lead to a 10% of the 8th being gay. That's still pretty low.
Hey Tagg Romney
Art Nouveau, which is a little less stylized and streamlined than Art Deco.
It's not rehab, it's inpatient psychiatric care for severe mental illness, which is way more intense and more expensive.
