Most of IBM is on windows laptops. Many internal business units explicitly forbid usage of Macs as their apps won’t run on Mac. The less actual grunt work people do, the more apt they are to be able to use a Mac @ IBM.

All I can say is, play the game with a squad full of friends. It is a wholly new experience. My squad hovers in the top .1 to 1% of players and it is a totally different experience when you carry all 27 other people on your team across the finish line.

The folks who follow this “wisdom” are usually the ones who wonder why they aren’t part of the in crowd at work. Who miss out on those pesky promotions, etc. Words do real harm, and ignoring them is supremely poor advice if there is no good leadership around.
