Successful scammers know that the best marks are the ones who have been trained to not question authority. It doesn’t matter if their authority comes from a church or from having lots of money or from being famous - just persuade the mark that you’re superior to them in some way, and they’ll hand over their money.

I was somewhat sympathetic at first because even the smartest of us can be taken in by a skilled scammer, but then I got to this sentence:
