Budgets, my friend. There comes a time when its either release what you have for a cash injection or shutter the studio, especially for an indie. Not saying that is 100% what happened here, but it definitely is with all of the AAA examples you listed.

I watched the entire run live - the couch did a phenomenal job with this. Seriously brilliant commentary from start to finish. Best run of the marathon for me.
