Look, the game is well-built on its own, and excellent with a good co-op partner (i.e. human). Just because you're trying to play it alone and not the way it's meant to be played doesn't mean it isn't great.

Pretty much. Then tension built up from not being able to actually play the game is much scarier than any of its thrills.

If you use the regular RCA cables, at least for audio, you can route it through the line-in on your PC or laptop and then run the headphone line through to your TV (with a few cheap conversion cables) and play music on your media player. I used to do that a lot back in the day.

Could very well be. But I feel like a flat fee for all music is a better way to do it. This way people trying to gain cheap popularity with their work using popular music can do so with the same opportunity as anyone else, though I'd agree the price is a bit steep to begin with and it really works against people…
