I'm reminded, oddly, of the complaining that came up over Django Unchained with claims that it was a racist movie, largely by people who didn't see it.

I think it filled that specific Kickstarter niche, where you're not really supporting the release or creation of a thing that tweaks your nostalgia lobes, but proving your old school bona fides by paying a nerdy tithe. Basically leaving a gift at the shrine of your lost childhood.

Apologizing to the comfort women is not about the money. It's about an official recognition that it was wrong. Miyazaki isn't the one to blame for what happened, so why the fuck should he give them money? It would mean nothing coming from him.

This is it. Food is one of the biggest business oppurtunities in China. It's cheaper to eat out once you factor in cooking. Well done to them. $3,259 is amazing. Most people I know in the UK don't make that combined. Factor in high taxes and cost of living and nobody has any money left at the end of the month.
