Slightly off topic but, why don't laptops have 10k RPM drives? Is the vibration and noise too much for a portable device? I have it in my desktop build and it is super fast. Just the balance between speed and capacity I need.

I don't know how you would set up a windows 7 machine in other ways than the conventional but you can automate updates and also install (if they have a PC tower) another harddrive and use crashplan to make automatic backups.
