Correct! In a pumpkin dessert like pie, there's usually a mix of cinnamon, cloves, allspice, nutmeg or ginger, kind of like gingerbread. Pumpkin bread and curried or plain pumpkin soups are also popular. I absolutely love anything with real pumpkin, but I find pumpkin spice flavoured things too sweet.

It's Thanksgiving this very minute in the Great White North, and I have squash stuffed with wild rice, apple, sage and roasted pumpkin seeds (pepitas), AND ALSO fabulous pumpkin squares in my fridge.
