On the one hand I want to give them credit for trying to nudge people into upgrading, but hot damn this is incredibly douchey.

I would imagine people also say Mac OS X is “free” when it’s the same deal there, IIUC?
Ugh, yeah, “Full Stack” needs to die in a fire.
Ah, okay... checking again now, I see that only some very basic information is in English (which is still better than nothing): http://www.siliconera.com/2015/08/10/iav…
Didn’t people report that basically all of the menu text is English? I’m tempted to give it a shot if there’s enough in English for me to not have trouble figuring out what does what.
Is “off” really equivalent to hide? Or to only show notifications? It seems insane if they removed the latter. (Well, it seems insane if they removed either one.)
It’s downright disgusting that the lowest plan is roughly 10 times as expensive if you calculate it per-MB than the highest plans.
An extension of number 4 would be “try to teach what you know to other people”.
Are you sure those people didn’t get their degree in copy-pasting from the internet? It sure sounds like it if they can’t think their way out of a paper bag. There are a lot of those. http://blog.codinghorror.com/the-nonprogram… comes to mind again.
All I really want to know is if this “restructuring” will delay the confusing and useless pile of shit that is G+ from being disentangled from YouTube (and possibly other Web apps), because that seriously can’t happen soon enough.
I would be surprised if it *did* cost less. Typically when carriers pull this kind of reconfiguration shenanigans, the point isn’t to save consumers money, the point is to confuse/trick consumers into thinking they’re getting a better deal when they’re totally not.
I re-read my comment again just to be sure, but I really don’t get where you get “paranoid” from it. If anything, I’d label myself as old-fashioned. I’ve predominantly used Windows for most of the time that I’ve used computers (other than using Linux for a couple of years), and never before Windows 8 did I need an…
I remember reading JS: TGP about 6 years ago when I started getting into JS and realizing it was serious business. From what I recall though, the most valuable pieces were the *bad* parts that it made you aware of.
My biggest gripe is the amount of privacy you need to concede to enable Cortana. If I’m on a desktop computer, I really don’t think Cortana needs to know my location (or would even be able to judge what it even is to a high degree of accuracy).
RE the TASBot block, it sounds like they’ll be planning a bigger deal for AGDQ 2016. It’s also worth noting that certain TAS’s are either very hard to keep in sync, or downright impossible without hardware modifications (e.g. Ikaruga, due to variable GCN disc loading times - and seriously, video or not, that Ikaruga…
I won’t argue with learning the core APIs of Node.js / io.js, but RE React and other frameworks-of-the-week, I’d strongly advise people to actually learn how JavaScript works first.
On the topic of modularization in particular (which is something a lot of people fail to consider until it’s too late), it is also worth noting that module formats like AMD have existed for JavaScript far prior to ES6. Heck, Dojo introduced its original module system (worked on by James Burke, the same person who went…
Yeah, it’d sure be nice if the publishers ensured that the developers actually did it instead. You know, since it’s their freaking job that they’re actually getting paid for.
I’m trying to figure out what *users* gain from this, either. I mean... doesn’t your smartphone already do the majority of the things this does? Yo dawg, I herd u like smartphones and apps so I made an app so you can smartphone on your smartphone?
Agreed. I think the petition is misguided - I don’t see a point in halting production of the game, but I would VERY much like it to not bear the Metroid moniker at all, because it doesn’t seem warranted and it will only dilute the brand (and piss off loyal fans).
