I posted about this too before seeing what you wrote.

Also this makes me think again about how Portia de Rossi specifically told Mitch after S4 that she didn’t want to do a S5. He listened politely... and then wrote her into several episodes.

No woman could have gotten a word in edgewise into that circlejerk.

I think it does matter. Yet another example of men succeeding despite their mediocrity.

Not that this matters but Jessica Walter is TEN TIMES the talent he is. The show would have been nothing without her Lucille when anyone could have played George Sr. The argument for “difficult” men is that their talent is worth dealing with it. But he was tormenting someone worth ten of him and it’s still defensible.

I worked on this show. I posted here back in November about Jeffery and Mitch and their abusive behavior and how someone needs to do some digging on Arrested Development, especially the 2 Netflix seasons(4,5), which were particularly difficult and harmful on both cast and crew, like really difficult and harmful, even

You know the part that’s the stupidest? Of all the shows in all the land, can you think of one that would make it easier to write out a major character? They could have fired Tambor, had a stand-in and done a running gag where you only saw him from behind. Or he was suddenly played by a different actor like Bewitched

YES that caught my eye as well. That signaled to me that he was very uncomfortable about what was transpiring. As to what made him uncomfortable I couldn’t say.

It’s super condescending and offensive. Like she is simply overreacting. And almost implying she’s the unprofessional one.

Their lack of respect for her both as a colleague and a professional was appalling. Obviously, abusing anyone is wrong, but her career could more than rival Tambor’s. The idea that she couldn’t tell the difference between a minor spat and behavior on set that is beyond the norm is absurd.

Alia Shawkat, a younger actor with less clout than Bateman was able to speak the truth in that same room when she said that behavior wasn’t acceptable.*

Exactly. To me it read like gaslighting.

Jeffrey Tambor is 73 FUCKING YEARS OLD! How much more damn time does he need in order to learn/grow into a person who behaves in a respectful and professional manner?

I think this interview will feel very familiar to any women that wants people to know what happened to them was not okay, but also feel pressured to go along to get along.

EXACTLY THIS. Why are his feelings so much more important than hers, other than that she’s a woman?

No, Jessica, you don’t have to be friends with him! God I could cry.

Bateman: “not to belittle it, not to excuse it”

Reading the way these guys dismiss the incident in front of their co-worker who clearly DOESN’T THINK IT WAS NOTHING is very discomfiting. I get loyalty, even misplaced loyalty, but they don’t seem to have any toward Walter.

Oh wow. It’s so sad how deluded these men are. They sound so clueless. Cross was already on thin ice. Very disappointed in the others. I loved AD but I’m not someone who can separate the art from the artist. The value of art is not worth more than the experience of victims so fuck this.

It will be amazing if Jessica Walters threatens to leave the show! they are literally telling her how she should feel when this obviously awful guy who was kicked out of another show yelled at her. Let’s all admit, that show wouldn’t be half as funny if Jessica Walters left.
