The trailer looks great! Kind of seems like Macbeth by way of Valhalla Rising.

I finally read Ronin this year and was kind of amazed at how good it was. Young Frank Miller actually had some poetry and ideas in him.

This is neat, but what will be really interesting is seeing them test 50 of these at the same time. What kind of emergent traffic patterns and driving behaviors will we get?

Prometheus, despite its many flaws, was visceral and unique. I’d happily watch even a bad Ridley Scott movie over most of the generic sci-fi crap that gets released.

Interesting; I wasn’t aware of that one. And yeah, the nice little denouement in Neuromancer is the only example that comes immediately to mind for me.

Sure that stage of it is not too exciting. But what if they’ve relocated to just another spot in the solar system so that we can watch them but can’t really get to them? Or maybe they decide to reform at some point. Just throwing ideas out.

I’d like to see the “ignore us” scenario explored more often. These “war with the AI” stories usually just assume an antagonistic agenda without exploring why. Existential threat is a possibility. Seizing manufacturing facilities is a possibility. But maybe, like you say, it’s more cost effective to simply relocate…

I just feel like io9 used to spend more time exposing little-known sci-fi projects or discussing technology. Lately it feels more like a gossip column or a catalog for Star Wars merch.
