Is skin color that superficial when our society treats people so differently based on it? That's like saying gender is superficial. These things themselves don't affect personality, but they do affect how one is treated by society, and thus, the ideas/opinions/experiences one has as a person.

I agree with you - she doesn't have the responsibility to make a perfect show. Criticize her show, sure, but don't overdo it. Of all the shows on TV, this is one of the most unique and refreshing looks at the lives of women, even if all the characters are white and upper class.
