According to Arin at APR, the newest port flashing does not increase any flash counters, and when the stock program is flashed (I've never heard of any sort of "stock-equivalent") there is nothing that can be detected by the Audi system.

Your link was a story with a guy drivng a B8 A5, which was not a port flash which

Fair enough, but the Discovery Channel is pretty credible. If they say it's legit, I'll go with it.

Yes, much to my chagrin. I have a '14 manual and the engines in all the 6MTs are CAED code with plastic intake manifolds. The automatics get the CPMA or CPMB engines which have a metal manifold plus E85 seals and goodies.

Why? No idea. Seems like it would be more cost effective to have used the same supply chain to put

What? Have you ever even driven an A5?

An S-line A5 cab with the sport suspension versus the S5 cab is not that big of a difference. You could put a set of coilovers on it for less than $2000, and you can install S5 front rotors on an A5 for the price of $150 set of caliper brackets.

Uh, except the 2013+ automatic A4/A5 is factory E85 compatible. Its right on the inside of the fuel door.

Only if you were being lazy. You "lose" powertrain warranty (aka get flagged TD1) if you are dumb enough to take your car to the dealer with the flash as the active program. With the new port flashes, APR dealers do not physically touch the ECU and when flashed back to stock, the car does not get flagged.

The automatic-equipped 2013+ B8.5 cars are specifically compatible with E85, there is a sticker on the fuel door specifying such and they have a different metal intake manifold along with myriad other small changes.

Your other option is to buy an A5 cabriolet and put in a tank of E85, get APR's $600 port flash, and save about 20 grand.

Hooray!

All that and not a single good photo of the regular car's dash/console?

I fail to see anything whatsoever "crazy" about the Comet.

As a helicopter designer, the tipjet XH-17 has always fascinated me for its simultaneous lunacy and ambition

FYI, liveleak is blocked by the vast majority of websense filters, so whenever you post videos from that site versus youtube, readers behind a corporate firewall likely cant see any of them.

According to my Textron coworker at Cessna, that's accurate for a "basic" one

Yep, all true. Hence the reason I didn't completely freak out!

Is there really demand for a $100 million supersonic businessjet?

Consider: a Citation X costs 1/5th of that, would certainly have lower fuel burn, and can technically fly over mach 1 (unofficially).

For a few days there, I wasnt!

I flew international from Frankfurt to DFW last week, sitting next to a rather unpleasant smelling sneezy woman from Nigeria. I got wicked sick 24 hours later, and believe me the thought crossed my mind.

Luckily it was just a severe sinus infection that likely came on from being in an A340

Well, shit.

Could have easily taken a temperature in 30 seconds and settled it.
