Fixed player characters can allow for more narrative control and plot development. Creating a character model that fills a generic 'fits anything' set up is a bit different. Hence incorporating a female character into GTA would be both more difficult and more powerful, because it would require crafting a narrative

Mass effect and dragon age are outliers, and incidentally made by the same company. They are also primarily linear RPGs that allow you to pick the order in which you do a lot of quests. Something I wouldn't consider very sandbox, by that is just me. Also bioware does such a good job of leaving the choice of gender to

How much do you wanna bet we'll see a part 2 of Youtube Reacts?

Hello, I am Diana Styles, author of: "It's like, how much more dog in game can there be? And the answer is: None. None more dog".

And I fucking love these things.

This is a good point any just so the guys are clear on this:

For part 1, the ability of the person to control the cause of their suffering has some bearing on its depth, in my opinion. Geek suffering is based on chosen hobbies and interests and the choice made to pursue them. Female suffering is based on unchosen attributes from birth. That alone makes one more unjust.

We'll drop the narrow-minded attitudes and move forward when women can go to cons and not get sexually harassed. Or when they can play a game and not be called a whore slut bitch cunt for doing so.

In my personal experience, a noticeable percentage of male geeks have always resented me.

Wow. I've never actually seen someone before calling it feminist to point out discrimination against women and sexual assault against women— as a bad thing— while claiming that he's for humanism.

I would hope that they would take real, living breathing 3D women who are interested in the same fandoms as evidence to the contrary, instead of further nurturing these ideas about YOU that were made up by OTHER men (who are the real people demeaning you, btw). You are believing the men who criticize you and rejecting

Every time I see an article like this, and then venture into the comments, I feel like Shelley Duvall's character in The Shining as she comes down the stairs and looks at the stacks and stacks of paper with that famous 'all work and no play' line. Except in this version it says
"Gaming doesn't have a women problem,

It technically is sexual assault and the number of guys here faulting women for being offended by sexual assault is really astounding.

Only male geeks and men said women hate geeks.

Yeah, women just don't understand what it's like to turn on the television and see people you identify with being exploited relentlessly, 24/7. Women don't understand what it is like to be marginalized by society...

"They've been trained by mistreatment to distrust people not similarly ostracized by the world. "

That is because they are losers.

Not every woman who knows how to apply makeup is a totem for some guy's unresolved high school anxiety.

Considering this is Kotaku, I'm super fucking stunned that the comments section isn't collectively defending the stickers and the morons who are deploying them incorrectly. Good for you, random anonymous Internet bros, I don't feel sick for once reading the comments section.

Wonder how some idiot gets it into his brain that this is acceptable behavior. Some people have no ability to think about whether they're making someone seriously uncomfortable or not. How would he like it if I ran up behind him and slapped a "fake geek guy" sticker on his ass before laughing at him and running off?
