I tried Valve - their 12 hour interrogation ("interview") process and excessive, "build us a fully functioning mod/game" tests were a bit rough to accommodate when you're already employed (or lack 100% of free time in a day).

Smoother animations, higher res textures, and higher poly count characters don't really add to the gameplay either. I guess we should get rid of those too? We really don't need more than say 32 or so colors while we're at it. Quality surround sound? Meh. Not really needed. We could get by with primitive speaker…

The funny thing is that Viceral Games would not exist without EA because it was founded by EA.

A lot of those studios aren't "dead" - they were just folded into EA. DICE, BioWare, Visceral, Maxis, and Black Box all still make games - just with EA's blessing and funding.

They left their primary fanbase of PC gamers in favor of Call of Duty like sales on consoles. Looks like that plan has backfired on them. Crysis 2 didnt meet sales expectations because console gamers didnt know what it was or didnt care and PC gamers were like screw them. I hope their talented staff finds work…

Well maybe if they resurrected Time Splitters they wouldn't be in this mess. :p
