That bums me out. I’m originally from Iowa.

Of course “safety workers” vote Republican so are obviously exempt.

Unions are bad because people haven’t largely needed a union or didn’t have one when they DID need one. I’m wagering this swing towards “right to work” will change down the road as people start to realize

Oh I agree, there is a huge component of breaking organized labor as part of this equation.

Oh I agree but the issue still stands. Most of the things that hold students back are not inherent in the school system but things outside the school system. As it stands right now, schools that don’t perform well tend to have a low economic class attending.

And where Devos really flubbed on the proficiency vs growth

I just want to say that lost in the debate of “failing” schools and all that is this: America has a poverty problem. Not an education problem. Issues with education are at heart issues with poverty. We could improve our schools but we go about it in ass backwards ways or ways that are ideologically driven and not

The amazing thing about the teachers union thing is this, by all metrics states with a strong union out perform states considered “right to work”.

Bitching about teacher’s union is a thing because it, I dunno, people are pissed we still get benefits or something.

That is what liberty entails. No one is guilty until they have performed guilty actions.

As part of a teacher’s union these ban effects some of my students and their families. I mainly work with students who are considered at-risk for a variety of factors. Also, as a special ed teacher, the Devos woman frightens me with their mealy mouthed words on IDEA and Special Ed law as a whole.

I would hope, when

Ya the labor force participation thing is something I see people trotting out time and again with out bothering to understand the 30 year trend, why it may be falling (BOOMERS RETIRE!) and that most people think it will continue to fall before it stabilizes.

Wait, shouldn’t you just save your pennies, wait till the economy crashes and burns like a fake phoenix and buy yourself a high rise when they are going for pennies on the dollar!

Which is why I get annoyed at the college campus liberal crowd. So much time and energy is devoted to things like “preferred pronouns” or “cultural appropriation”. Which, sure, fight for that but don’t lose sight of the big picture.

I mean, what more important fighting for minimum wage increase, labor protection,

The sad thing is that people have claimed PTSD over internet arguments....

Leia stepped out of line when she called him a nerf herder.

If the liberal left sees itself as the Rebellion from Star Wars, then the first movie would have ended with Luke, Han and Leia all fighting on Yavin 4 over who was more woke and if Chewbacca holds problematic views. Luke tells Leia to check her privilege right before the Death Star blows everyone up.

The most important thing in liberal politics is being the most ideologically pure and woke.

We must make mole hills out of the smallest errors and make sure that instead of focusing on big ideas and moving policy and agendas forward, each special snow flake needs to feel special and valued.

If the liberals of today had

Because at the end of the day, either they elect a worse ideologically driven Republican instead of a “rino” or the voting faithful fall in line.

They unite around some common themes time and time again. The right/Republicans will continue to win because of this.

Liberals will always lose because of this demand for ideological purity. It’s a continual circular firing squad.

Basically. Quick, lets quibble over the small bits and ignore the larger looming threat.

Meanwhile, Republicans are united and look who wins.

I think Labor Unions need to spend far more money on organizing other sectors and states. And really start pushing back. This would include organizing unions in other countries as well. We need a global labor movement.

You assume that people are in poverty because they made bad choices. You can make all the right choices and still fall into poverty.

Like do you have a metric as to how many bad choices you need to make before society writes you off? Should it be 5? I honestly question your understanding of the issue with such a
