I don’t think it would hold up throughout digging and building the henge, carting the stones in(each weighing a few, sometimes up to twenty, tons), building the circle, and following that up through a few thousand years.

It’s hard to say, although I doubt that Stonehenge was. Besides constructing the henge itself, the stone circle is made up of blocks that are super heavy and had to be transported, in some cases, for quite a ways.
