I appreciate your maths and analysis, but if I’m going to be entirely honest I could be an hour late to work and I’d still get the exact same amount of work done that day than I would have otherwise.

Eh, I’ve always taken those grades with a big grain of salt. While I agree we’ve been short funding our infrastructure for decades (and it is a major fucking problem) I’m not just going to accept ‘grades’ from an industry group whose members’ livelihoods are reliant on state and federal infrastructure funding.

It’s not his uncle’s fault that the system allowed him to make such an outrageous amount for doing something we’d put a robot in place to do now, but it certainly didn’t help anything either.

Whenever I’m in conversation with people about state of the MTA, I always tell them the story of how my uncle was making about $90k a year working a ticket booth in Long Island Railroad stations by the time he “retired for medical reasons” (his ailment would be described accurately as chronic Irish flu).

Dear Hackers-

Valve? Positive public image? What?

hmmmmm OK nobody read this article until you’ve pre-ordered the book

Sounds like they know what went wrong and could easily remedy that next time around, but instead are possibly giving up. I’m really enjoying Andromeda.

Apparently she changed her name to “Reality”.. which to me is hint #1 right there of potential issues. lol

But she has an appropriate name for someone who works in the Matrix.

what exactly is “experimental” about this? looks like the same grey toned campy sci fi + horror trope shit repackaged ad infinitum for the last few decades.

interesting. i don’t think he’s outdone himself since district 9 and the short film it was based on, but still consider him a bit of a visionary. even his weaker films still show a good amount of originality and style, and IMO are better than the typical schlock (I would say Elysium is the easiest project to pick

You would Mogo there.

don’t be one of those guys.

hella annoying characters.

If you care about your relationship with your neighbors you should also not cut your lawn at 8 in the morning on the wknd.

Especially if you’ve got kids who play in your yard.

HOA not required. Lots of towns have strict lawn policies. There’s concern about snakes, mosquitoes and other pests. In a lot of places if you let it go too long, the city will mow it and then send you a bill. And it’s a lot more than any landscaping company would charge.

Or if you have any reason at all to use that space for recreation, and don’t want, among other things, Lyme disease.

Every place where I have lived, if you don’t cut your lawn, the local government will do if for you. They will fine you, charge you for it at marked up rates, and will add it to your property tax bill if you don’t pay it.
