I will say I’m friends with one of the managers who was part of the naming team. I suggested stuff like Falcon (since it’s discontinued again) or Thunderbird, both of which he liked and apparently pitched in the meetings. As you can see, his vote didn’t go very far unfortunately....

Ah shit. They did the thing. They couldn’t just let it be its own car. It’s gotta be called Mustang.

Yeah, not sure Ghosn is the best name drop as a positive but his style is what investors want. Nickle and dime to maximize shareholder value, which R-N did under him until it completely collapsed underneath them (though he was no longer CEO when they tanked and possibly in jail). Now Nissan is left without a single

And pretty much the only car Mitsubishi sells over here

Bro.  We get it.  You don’t like Corvettes.  You don’t have to be the first poster on every Corvette article giving us another reason why you hate Corvettes.

That is a quintessential racecar noise. I love it.

Better than LS?  Considering the limited numbers this engine will be sold in (and the likely huge difference in size) I doubt anyone will switch camps.  Doesn’t mean we can’t acknowledge a sexy flat-plane engine when we see one (such as the jewel in the GT350).

I don’t think anyone disputes the advantage in breathing at high revs for DOHC.  It’s odd there are still those disputing the size, weight, and simplicity advantages of the OHV SBC.

Now playing

This thread is worthless without LOUD NOISES!

I’ll have you know that crack mining is a noble profession. Clearly, this seller is well acquainted with how to find the tastiest crack veins in every mountain.

This is dumb!!!

You see, the moon has half the gravity of your Earth, I don’t know if you can understand that but, our vertical leap is beyond all measurement!  Observe

Just sayin’.

I would say kill the Versa over the Sentra. At least the Sentra is a comfortable car that can get out of its own way. Neither of those can be said of the Versa. Plus when I bought mine it was that same damn price for the Sentra SR as the Versa on the lot.

This is a bummer. I’ve had Nissans I loved in the past, but the current offerings were bad across the board when I went for a test drive.

I probably would have bought an IDx if they’d produced the concept regardless of how bad it was to drive.

I still laugh when I see a new Nissan, holy fucking guacamole they are hideous. Nissan is the 3rd cousin no one talks about.

2016 Focus ST. About 120k miles and the average is about dead on 30 mpg. That’s long trips but in and around Boston. I cruise when there’s nowhere to go, but I hit WOT when there is, which is pretty frequent. I run 93 octane. Lowest I ever got out of a tank was 24 mpg from 87 octane winter blend and all highway

It’s worth mentioning that the engines replaced by Ecoboost usually aren’t a direct comparison because power increased significantly. In the case of the F-150, Ford replaced the 4.6L V8 with the 3.5L V6 (right?), HP and torque increased from 292/320 to 365/420.

That’s.. roughly the same MPG as my Camaro SS. 17-18 mpg in stop and go traffic. Around 20 with some more highway mixed in, and 27-28 if it’s all highway. It’s a manual so no cylinder deactivation.

1st: This is really interesting. Since the 3.5 ecoboost in the trucks has been a thing, the general vibe I’ve gotten and read is that it delivers on the power, but not the fuel economy (I drove a rental expedition last year, and it felt like a damn rocket ship). You could have called that driver error for not being
