I forgot about Korra and TMNT... :(

Sorry. I know what it is... that was more of an abstract question. It doesn’t quite fit the mold of something like a Playstation but also doesn’t quite fit the mold of a Gamepass (because you can’t really buy the games a la carte, to my understanding), so it’s hard to know how to classify it in an off-hand remark.

never thought of it in those terms, but that’s absolutely true.

That’s cool. I just don’t have time enough for gaming to justify spending on a whole new gaming [platform? ecosystem? what is AA really, anyway?]. My PS4 barely gets any use as it is, and there is a precedent for the better titles on AA to make the jump to other platforms, so might as well wait.

I’m not going to shell out for Apple Arcade, but I could see this being fun in short bursts if it made it to Switch.

i’d even settle for DLC that added more tracks and pay stupid prices for it. I feel like the bones of MK8 are still solid. I don’t even know what I would add in a 9th release.

I know the data is not as easy to get, but i’d absolutely love to see one for a) 3rd party titles and b) download-only titles.

Nice idea... winter squashes are the bane of my CSA’s (mostly due to their overwhelming quantity) , so i’m always ready for unconventional ideas to use them up.

I lived through Titanic’s heyday.  It’s quite common.

take that star.

This reminds me just a little bit of that oft-repeated chestnut in the ‘90s where we were all shocked about how David Hasselhoff was the biggest pop star in Germany, while we only knew him from Baywatch, etc.

I think about this and how great it would be in a Zelda game, what kind of boss battle fun you could have with it, the fact that entire Zelda games have literally been built around powers that were half as interesting. And then I remember how Twilight Princess’s final power was a *second* bloody hookshot.

Arkham City felt like a Zelda-like to me.  But I agree on your thoughts on the first Arkham game.

Having been to both cities, I agree with this. The Boston comparison is off-base here; San Antonio is more remotely located, whereas Boston is a bit more central and hub-like.

To me, the two have different connotations for sure. The biggest difference is that metroidvanias seem to usually have areas that connect to each other and the maps are just open. Items might be scattered around somewhat evenly. Whereas most Zelda games have small focused dead-end areas (“dungeons”) that you explore

A quick scan of what gameplay descriptions are there feel more like Zelda than Metroid, but maybe the editing was goofy, or I haven’t had my second cup of coffee. The time limit mechanics sound interesting and clever, but I agree with your statement that I don’t see what else makes this worth my time and money.

James Gunn is such a piece of shit. Even listening to his half-assed defense gives me split ends.

It’s a mario game with a rocket pack.  It feels like someone let an 8 year old loose in the design studio.  I don’t think it’s anywhere near the same league as any other mario platformer.

Every attempt to expand the universe of Donnie Darko (the director’s cut, S. Darko) has been utter trash and Kelly’s judgment as an filmmaker is shaky at best, so this sounds like a *great* idea.  They rank below even the Henry Fool sequels, so yeah, let’s lean into this idea.

Thank you for giving a shout out to those of us who think Tenenbaums is overrated. It’s not a popular opinion, I know, but that movie is such a mixed bag for me. Like the NYC that it builds, and I love Hackman’s performance... but, other than that, there’s a handful of great jokes that are lost in a swamp of unearned
