My mom is the same. Her sisters agreed once one of their children hit 18 no more xmas gifts from aunts. My mom said no and still gives gifts to all 5 of her nieces and nephews even though I get nothing from my aunts (which is fine, just goes to show my mom feels the same way about giving gifts).

I only buy gifts when I can think of something the person genuinely likes. I do not buy gifts for the sake of following custom.
