@Canon7D-Fanboy: Please don't insult people who actually work on dissertations. Having read your last 20 or so comments, I can safely say they are at minimum a few hundred miles away from the border of any kind of academic work, much less something as intensive as a dissertation.

@Monotreme Extraordinaire: Maybe not for people who have thought about it at length, but for a layperson reacting by their gut, I think they'd find it subverts a great deal.

@Miss Suka: The call for donations is decidedly positive in its opinion, and for that there will always be detractors who see critical flaw in the cause, and will certainly express them.

@Miss Suka: If it wouldn't make a difference, why bother responding to me? Of course people will find the cause compelling and donate, I could assume that much. There doesn't seem much cause for you to respond to me.

@snacktastic: I actually went to prison for a very short stint a short while back with a lot of kids just entering adulthood who were veterans of the system (Canadian system isn't quite as bad as the US from what I've read, but it's pretty close). As an upper-middle-class kid it was a real eye opener in the injustices

Lady Gaga draws the line at... who was that rapper who wore the band aid prominently? Whoever he was, she draws the line at him!

I've been reading the PTC reaction to this, and I have to say they're taking the wrong tack. There are MANY ways to critique this, but pedophilia is just reaching for the low fruit. Of course, the objectification of women is readily apparent (why isn't Cory Monteith de-robed at all, and why are Dianne and Lea in

@snacktastic: Absolutely. It's never not worth hearing the other side. I'm not a frequenter of Jezebel, but given the fact that I'm a moderate feminist at best, I expect that sometimes my ideology doesn't line up with the majority of the herd, and for that I always enjoy a spirited debate.

@Bottle-Of-Smoke: Her comment inferred that my dissenting opinion was invalid. Obviously we make choices as to whether we donate or not, and I was expressing my thoughts on why I wouldn't. Consequently, she responded in a tone which suggested I should take my dissent elsewhere. I disagreed, and extrapolated in general

@snacktastic: Thank you. I don't seek to incite anger as some random troll, nor do I think every Jezebel commenter is some femi-nazi with a crazed leftist agenda rooted in queer theory and gender politics. My comment may have been slightly more inflammatory then I meant (thank you, pinot grigio) but it wasn't meant as

@Miss Suka: Know what's awesome about a public forum? I get to contribute my opinion, even as a dissenter! Novel, eh?

So, these people made a mature decision based on their socioeconomic status and want to break a knowledge/poverty cycle they unwillingly inherited. I appreciate that, but why do they deserve my money personally as opposed to donating it to the various charities and services that help countless others make these

"You know... for kids!"

"You know... for kids!"

Images like that are sadistic on gaming websites. To many readers it probably brings a reaction akin to Auschwitz.

@Jigen: Red/orange means they're the latest stories, in the same vein that the pageviews turn red when they have a lot of them and similarly with the number of comments.

@LetsTryThisAgain: What's the deal with getting a star anyway? I got one once, then I analyzed the rest of Gawker Media, deduced that the rest of the game would be commenting to get more stars on other websites.

Not my personal taste, but anyone who can turn a closet into a comfortable, functional office space deserves a medal.

@dowingba: Wow. I just had such a massive flashback to Grades 4-8. Now I need to find that game.
