@Vidya108: Oh come on, it's obviously sarcastic.

And people mocked Wild Wild West.

@jbboehr: Not a nuclear bomb, but technology derived from the nuclear bomb has been.

@PaddyDugan: The United States as a means to prove that it had beaten the Axis powers to create a nuclear bomb and demonstrate it in the Pacific theatre far away from any European allies, and end a devastatingly protracted armed conflict (and probably as a means of revenge for Pearl Harbour). Two bombs were dropped

Frankly, given the number of industries that pander to the obese (food [both fast and non], automotive, health care, etc.) I for one am glad at least one is discriminatory. It's all about checks and balances.

If this is their strategy to licence OS X to OEMs then they've really gone insane.

@Z und Vielpunkt's chick: Gawker is in essence a gossip site (it's in the main description). LKL and its ilk are supposed to be hard-hitting journalist shows.

@howdini: Huh, I'll be damned, I really should have looked up the definitions before I sounded so arrogant. And here I've been misusing the word for 5 years.

@nuclear bore: They're tricky definitions, but empathy means that you've had a similar experience and can feel for someone because of that. Sympathy is where you put yourself in their shoes.

@nuclear bore: Empathy is, by definition, sharing the experience and being able to feel as they are.

@nuclear bore: Well, they've never been to prison, how can they be empathetic?

Firstly, this is the first Jezebel article that I've both thoroughly read the article and the comments and goodness, you ladies (and gentlemen) have chutzpah. Mad props, indeed.

@Vecha: Xmas: None of the hot button drugs of the day (heroin, cocaine, marijuana, etc) but there's enough that it warrants legal action. Powerful psychiatric drugs, really potent narcotic painkillers and anabolic steroids are some of the highlights of III and IV.

@Danarcho: Goddamn bell hooks, eh? I can't look at anything without thinking of The Oppositional Gaze nowadays.

@Adam Pash: If you go to the IRC channel for What, they have an invite room where they just ask you questions about basic transcoding, lossy/lossless formats, torrenting and bitrates, and then they'll shoot you over an invite. That's how I got mine, at least.

@Slagathorian: Actually, at least under OHIP (and that covers, for anyone unfamiliar with Canadian provincial populations, about 33% of Canada's whole population) only about 8-10 people per year qualify and have to undergo rigorous psychological testing before they are approved to cover a sex change. So no, not all

@conordml: I think that's just the reflection of the monitor on the desk.
