You can't charge (or sync via wire) the phone and listen to music with headphones at the same time, the jack would be covered in any sort of dock as well. Plus it forces you to put the phone in your pocket upside down if you use headphones.

Actually 6 year olds (or any small child) have a great penchant for the golden ratio if they get to drawing things of the same shape at various sizes.
