UI/UX is exactly half about looks (the other half is usability). If something looks dreadful then by definition it has already failed half of it's entire purpose.

Not my house, but my room has terrible coverage. And at work there's only good enough wifi reception in the washroom to keep your phone from dropping down to cellular (yay iOS6).

The Gimp is awesome, and with Lion and Mountain Lion having fullscreen x11/xquartz support there isn't even the annoying click to focus then click to work issue (or you can even use single window mode in GIMP 2.8).

I was taken aback as well, but for reasons that I don't care to get into I recently had to pay to replace one and the bill was itemized, with the hourly rate listed as $150 (the rest of the bill was pretty bad too, but that part stuck out as insane).
