Darlington was struggling until they went to one race a year. Now that their one lone race weekend is back to Labor Day where it belongs the Southern 500 is back to being a premiere event for NASCAR.

To get a date at COTA on the cup schedule NASCAR is probably going to have to cut a deal with Texas Motorspeedway first. They usually fight additions of close by tracks to the schedule in any series that runs on their oval to keep from splitting the audience. I don’t like that they do it, but I understand it’s them…
300,000 up front, I believe. With proof of an additional 700,000 set aside for marketing. Not everybody spends the whole 700 grand but you need to show you could.

Mechanics are the offensive lineman of motor sports. They don’t get a lot of the credit, but if you don’t have good ones, you don’t have a good team.
Generally those are the two sports that actually make money and have the most travel cost.
