You’re too young then. It’s the headlight bright/dim switch. They used to be foot-activated in most cars.

That reminds me of one of my worst airline experiences. 30+ years ago in the pre-web days, when my grandmother died I called TWA and bought 3 tickets for later that day from Dallas to St. Louis through Oklahoma City. When we got to OKC and found the gate for the connecting flight, it was deserted. I found a TWA desk…
That was a really enjoyable show! My wife and I were just talking about it a few days ago when they mentioned it on an NPR show.
I’ve always been a bit of a P-body guy. I bought a Sundance in 1988, and I’ve always owned at least one P-body ever since. I have an ‘87 Shelby CSX and an ‘89 Shelby CSX-VNT now, both production #321 in their respective years (see user name). I’ve owned the ‘87 for 25 years, and Shelby signed the dash for me at a show…
I’ll say it again: that’s a beautiful Neon. Beautiful color and condition. Since it’s already got a 2.4L in it, why not go all the way with the turbo version? It’s been done enough times that it’s a pretty straight-forward and well-documented process. It would cost peanuts, too, especially compared to other things…
NGL I thought that top pic was a Dodge Caliber SRT4.
Dodge was into it, too. You could very easily build a 350hp Neon with the Stage 3 kit, a complete set of parts straight from Dodge. It was reliable, too. I installed the 285hp Stage 2 kit on my own SRT-4 as soon as it was available in early 2004. I’m still driving it today at over 246K miles! With a few other things…
As reverse_syncromesh said above, anything other than totality isn’t the same thing. It’s a completely different type of experience. The pictures you see like the one Clay_T posted above are what it looks like at totality to the naked eye, not through a filter or eclipse glasses. Those few 2-4 minutes of totality are…
It’s a fun car. I bought mine new and have been enjoying driving it for more than 20 years and 246K miles now!
Ah, so it was Tom Petty! Clearly that ship did not back down.
Mid-grade is an excellent choice for many modern turbo engines, if you want them to make the power they’re capable of instead of pulling a lot of ignition timing. It’s what I use in my Ford and Buick turbo fours. I only use premium in my SRT-4 (essentially the same engine as your PT Cruiser), but I’m running a…
Reester Bunnies beat Reese’s eggs for me. The chocolate/peanut butter filling ratio is perfect, and the chocolate is slightly darker (so more bitter) and better quality than what’s used for Reese’s cups, eggs, etc.
I kinda enjoyed seeing him play a version of himself in the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special.
That’s what does it for me, the balance. I find a Double Whopper Jr. to have a perfect ratio of ingredients, making it probably my favorite available fast food burger. A Quarter Pounder Deluxe with no cheese is very similar and also quite good. The beef is better, but it just doesn’t hit quite the same way as the…
I’ve been growing my own pineapple plants in the window by my desk for about 15 years. Admittedly you do only get a small new fruit every 2-3 years this way, but with them ripening on the plant, they’re some of the best pineapples you’ve ever tasted. I’ve also got another one blooming in a pot at home right now.…
When I was a kid I remember the old service station across the street having something like this mounted on the wall. It was somehow involved in the installation of those hot patches, although I don’t remember exactly how.
This reminds me of a hacking/puzzle type game I envisioned in the mid-80s, when I was just getting started as a programmer. It would ship on an apparently blank floppy, so your first task would be to undelete the files. Alas, I never got beyond the early planning stages with it.
I know it’s only been a few days since my last QOTD post like this, but again I have answer “mine”: a 2004 Dodge Neon SRT-4 I bought new and am still daily driving at 246K+ miles. I try to take care of it. I was a quite bit older than the average SRT-4 driver when I got it, and I’m getting close to 60 now.
Whoo, that is a bit expensive, isn’t it? Almost 10 times what I’ve paid in the past for HPDEs at a road course. It does sound like a lot of fun, though. I’m beginning to think I may be getting too old for this kind of thing. :( My reflexes aren’t what they once were.
I know nothing.
