Years ago one of my co-workers bought a king cake and put it in the fridge. Sometime in the next day or two, another co-worker who had never heard of a king cake threw it away, because she somehow thought the green sprinkles on top were mold. smh

I’m reminded of the Douglas Adams quote from The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy: "Bypasses are devices that allow some people to dash from point A to point B very fast while other people dash from point B to point A very fast. People living at point C, being a point directly in between, are often given to wonder

Our oldest daughter and SIL lived in Atlanta, and Chattanooga was always the worst spot driving there from Illinois. Sometimes a 15+-mile backup all the way from the river to downtown and beyond. They moved last year, but now they live in...Chattanooga!

My mom has never been a cook. When I was a kid the only “French toast” I knew was just plain toast with margarine and syrup on it. It wasn’t until I was an adult that I had actual custardy French toast. Even now 40+ years later, I still sometimes treat myself to some plain toast with butter and syrup on it. :)

Whew, I find Classic Lay’s to have no flavor but salt and oil. Give me a chip that tastes like potato! I’m partial to Krunchers.

Clearly it’s something up with which you will not put.

That looks exactly like the car my wife’s parents had when we started dating.

Rush has some wonderfully complex time signatures in many of their songs. I think one has a repeating sequence of measures in 11/8 then 12/8 then 11/8 again. It’s glorious. :)

Holy cow, that one still left in Illinois is only 30 minutes from me. I had no idea. We were a Bonanza town when I was a kid in the 70's. I have fairly fond memories of all the fun buffet stuff: baked potato bar, sundae bar, in addition to the “regular” salad bar.

Now you’ve made me go check the author’s math. :) I think you’re right; even with the higher protein content in the whey powder, it’s still more per gram of protein.

Our “old man” cat is about 19-1/2. His kidneys have almost completely failed, and I know he doesn’t have long left with us. He’s lost so much weight and is clearly starting to get a weak. But he doesn’t seem to be in pain or distress and is still grooming himself, so we haven’t wanted to send him away yet. I’m tearing

...but plain whey contains more protein per gram than the flavored stuff, so it ends up lasting longer and costing less.

I’ve bought and been gifted expensive imported balsamic before, but some of these like the Kroger one taste almost as good to me, for a lot less money.

Most specialty food stores have some good options, but actually one of my favorite easily available almost anywhere kinds is from Kroger: (mangled a bit so Kinja will show it) www(dot)kroger(dot)com/p/hemisfares-balsamic-vinegar/0001111087166

JPEG stands for Joint Photographics Experts Group, so I assume you pronounce it jay-feg, right? And SCUBA from Self-Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus is skuh-ba with a short U and A?

That’s the definition of confit, isn’t it, cooked in oil at a low temperature?

I’m not even a huge chocolate lover, but spicy peanuts on chocolate ice cream sounds really good!

Just yesterday as part of lunch I had raspberries and blueberries with salt, pepper, olive oil, and balsamic vinegar drizzled on them. It’s a combo I have pretty often, and it’s delicious. I’m firmly of the opinion that you can put good balsamic vinegar—the thick aged stuff, not the cheap watery kind—on absolutely

What makes you think they’re not?!? They could be building an army of Dick Cheneys!

My 80s Dodges disengage the compressor if you go WOT just for the extra couple of HP.
