We haven’t had end-to-end analog in decades. For a very long time POTS calls have been digitized into 64K channels (or even less sometimes). HD Voice has more than twice the frequency range of POTS, and sounds much, much better than POTS ever did.

HD Voice or VoLTE, which most newer cell phones support, has much higher sound quality than with old cell phones. When the devices on both ends use HD, there’s no more of that compressed robot sound these days for most cell phone calls.

I had Turkish coffee from Starbucks at the airport in Istanbul. I feel like it just barely qualifies me to say I’ve had Turkish coffee in Turkey. :) It was actually done well and not some Starbucks-ized version. Turkish delight on the side, even.

You didn’t mention the Turkish delight! When I’ve had Turkish-style coffee in Bosnia, Turkey, and even in Atlanta, it’s always been served with two pieces of Turkish delight on the side.

A mortar and pestle works well for turning table salt into popcorn salt, too.

If you can find a type called “gold nugget,” they are amazing. They have weird, very bumpy skin, but they taste great. They seem only to be available for a short time each year.

It’s my opinion that it needs some mayonnaise added to it to really bring the flavor together and make it a dip, instead of just flavored sour cream.

Our HELOC has essentially been our emergency fund. It’s mostly been used for repairing storm damage and unexpected medical expenses. Three weeks ago we made our last mortgage payment! I feel like Walmart’s self checkout works better than a lot of them do (so long as it’s just “normal” items that don’t require special handling). I’m not a germophobe, but you don’t even have to touch anything while checking out if you use Walmart Pay.

Here in downstate IL we have an even easier and quicker version. You get a roast that will fit in your slow cooker, add an envelope of dry Italian dressing mix, some beef broth, and a jar of either giardiniera or pepperoncini (what we usually use), and let it cook until dinner time.
