Oh, good! We’re gonna have 10 at Thanksgiving, and I just guessed and got a 16lb turkey. Sounds like it should be about right. This year my daughter has volunteered to cook the bird, and I have full confidence in her ability. Plus, less work for me. The last time I made a big Thanksgiving meal two years ago, I think I

Swiss meringue, of course, is basically cooked before you whip it, so the starting temperature of the eggs doesn’t matter much. I feel like it’s the best meringue for topping pies. It’s a little denser and doesn’t collapse in the fridge or weep much.

Just wait until that first time you’re asked, “Do you get the senior discount?” I was about 40 the first time it happened to me. :-/

AARP seems left-leaning centrist in their lobbying to me. I’ve seen some of my right-wing family members and acquaintances calling for AARP to be shunned as a liberal organization.

Ouch! I hit one with my ‘89 CSX, but at least it was a little easier to find another ‘89+ non-bulge hood for it. It’s kind of a shame Shelby didn’t use the bulge hood on the ‘89 (maybe they didn’t exist yet for the 89+ headlights?), because the ones people have swapped the later bulge hood onto look really nice.

I had one run into the side of my SRT-4 in January. I needed a new door, fender, and headlight. It could have been a lot worse. I actually already had a couple of spare fenders in the garage, and we have a large liquid paint booth and painting experts at work, so fixing it properly only cost me about $1000. Second

Last year I needed a weird-sized rug for our bathroom, and I found a place online to get it for a pretty reasonable price. It was exactly the dimensions I requested, and I think around $110. There are several places online like that. I picked one based on the rug pattern I wanted.

I remember there being nudity even in the 1981 Clash of the Titans.

The ‘P’ in “JPEG” stands for “Photographic,” but I bet you don’t pronounce it jay-feg, do you? The ‘U’ in “SCUBA” is for “underwater,” yet no one says skuh-buh. Your argument is invalid.

Sorry, but if somebody pronounces “GIF” with a hard ‘g’, I’m going to correct them.

We use it to keep the family updated on my father-in-law, who lives with us and is in cancer treatment. There’s just not any other very practical way to keep 50-100 extended family members of all ages connected and informed. Maybe I should start running a web forum for the family. Would be a huge pain to get them all

I like their crinkle cut fries. Granted, there’s nothing weird or special about them, but nothing bad either. They’re a good, solid crinkle cut fry.

I really enjoyed the Southwest Chicken Avocado Wrap when they had it this summer. And the chicken salad Market Fresh sandwich and wrap they have during the summer is pretty good, too.

Yes, I was kidding. Along those lines, though, imagine how much rubber dust is along the highway from all the tires wearing down.

Great, next you’re going to tell me I have to wash my towels! I mean, you’re clean when you use them, right? How dirty can they be?

I signed up for Apple TV+ to watch, but I’m so far not really enjoying it. I do see more how they’ve adapted the story, which I guess is fine, but gal-axy! the style is boring. It’s like watching an hour-long commercial for an expensive perfume. “Psychohistory. By Seldon.”

By burning the candle at both ends. Duh!

The company I work for matches 1%. Not up to 1% of my salary, just 1% of what I contribute. So if I put in $100, they put in $1. I mean, I guess it’s technically “matching” something, but in practice, it sure ain’t much.

One of my favorite SNL moments was a long time ago (late 80s I think?) when the host was announced as Paul Simon, and both musician Paul Simon and Senator Paul Simon walked onstage at the same time.

Years ago our oldest daughter did a science fair project where she tested the effect of microwaving on mold growth. Microwaving for at least 30 seconds retarded mold growth by a lot, which makes perfect sense. Heating anything enough for long enough is going to kill most common pathogens. I mean, that’s why we cook and
