Probably one of the highest-end restaurants I’ve been to was Lola in Cleveland. I made a point to try the crispy bone marrow appetizer. It was the first time I’d had bone marrow. It was interesting and good, but I’m not sure I’d get it again. It’s sooo rich. It definitely needs something to offset the fat.

I think there are quite a few types of green olives. I love the common pimento-stuffed ones typically just labeled “Spanish olives” at the store (which I think are Manzanillas?). But I’ve had some other large green olives, sometimes stuffed with almond or garlic or other things, that have a really unpleasant taste to

Ha, it sounds like descriptions of me and my wife. She has always been the list-maker and matches those other traits, while I’m the opposite in many respects. On the other hand, as I get older (55) I increasingly have to make lists, or else I forget things too easily.

Although some people would argue if it’s really shawarma, you can also simply season up your chicken and grill it or even oven roast it and slice it. It’s going to taste very similar and delicious, especially grilled.

It took me a minute. All the stars to you!

IMO, yes gyros are a kind of shawarma. Also tacos al pastor, and even ćevapi in the Balkans, although there’s an argument to be made that the meat has to be spit-roasted to be shawarma.

Sorry I was needlessly snarky.

4 years...school? My oldest daughter was in Abu Dhabi for 4 years at NYUAD, which is why I was there to visit. I agree with you that the fries and pickled veggies are the best.

Never forget!

Our local McD dining room has never reopened. And since an Illinois state-wide indoor mask mandate went back into effect yesterday, I think it’s unlikely to reopen soon. They’re always so busy (fairly near an interstate), that I’ve wondered if they could decide it’s not worth the expense to reopen the dining room and

Edit...Yes, you did miss it, I guess. He mentioned chicken at least 10 times in the article.

An Arabic masala makes for a good shawarma seasoning. And as I’ve mentioned here before, I like fries and pickled veggies on mine. Just some oven-baked crinkle fries and Italian giardiniera works great. And a really garlicky sauce. I usually put a few cloves of garlic, some lemon juice, salt, pepper, and either some

My local dealer has a Solstice that he daily drives. I always loved the looks of it.

Or sharpen the handle end and drive it through the vampire’s heart! Win-win-win!

I was going to say Dodge, because of the founders dying within a year of each other. They were in a position to build an innovative plant and become the dominant Detroit car company, but after their deaths, Henry Ford built a plant in that location instead, and the rest is, as they say, history.

Someday, if I can, I’m gonna be a cotton pickin’ chicken checkin’ baggage chucker, just like my old man!

It should also be mentioned that milkweed is vital for monarch butterflies, as in the photo, the population of which is in steep decline, at least partly because there’s less milkweed around.

I feel like the last time Wendy’s changed their fries it was an improvement, but they’re still not great. (This article said more than 10 years ago and I checked, and sure enough, it was. I can’t believe it’s been that long!) I’ve found that Arby’s new-ish crinkle cut fries are pretty good usually. That gives Arby’s

I’ll give it a try! The other day I was talking about sumac here, and that seems like might be good on that.

For a while I tried a Gerber that had pliers, but I ended up going back to the Micra, because I found I used the scissors a lot more than I realized and rarely used the pliers.
