I was lobbying a Republican office once on workforce and apprenticeship issues, and with a straight face the staffer suggested I might reach out to Ivanka Trump’s office since she’s been highly engaged on those issues. I snickered a little bit before realizing he was dead serious. There was an uncomfortable pause

It really is astounding how awful CNN has become. I hate to say it, but Trump’s underlying theory that they are the enemy of the people is partially correct (it’s just not because they write mean things about him).

“Well, calling you fucked wouldn’t be strictly accurate.” I literally choked on my food and almost died.

For an episode in which almost nothing happened, I feel almost as emotionally drained as at the end of Breaking Bad’s Ozymandias or ER’s Love’s Labor Lost.

I realize there’s something deeply wrong with me that I’m more comfortable watching Arya display sociopathic tendencies and murder people than I am watching her have sex. Or maybe it just makes me American.

I cried at Daniel Portman’s rendition of “Jenny’s Song”. It was just so gorgeous, and one of the actual nice Easter eggs (on Easter!) for the book readers.

It’s amazing that his positions galvanized a new generation of activism and have pushed the Democratic field to the left. He is demanding many things that we sorely need. I also agree that responsible adults must compartmentalize to some degree when it comes to political candidates - you won’t like EVERYTHING about

It’s so hard to resist speculation, but your post will help me remember to do my best to withhold speculation without much evidence, particularly and especially when it’s of the victim blaming variety, like what your old classmate said.

I just can’t imagine what was going through Mama Closs’ head in those last few moments of her life, knowing she couldn’t protect her daughter. Nightmares like these are part of why I believe in an afterlife - all I can hope is that Jayme’s parents are at peace now, somehow knowing their daughter is safe again.

Dude - people are boycotting Gillette, because they made a commercial urging men to be less sexist, and to stand up against bullying.  Somewhere, someone is garbage. :(

I think it’s just an odd and/or poorly lit photo. He is *so* handsome and that’s not really evident here. The actress that plays Jasmine looks much younger than she does here, too. The actual movie stills are better.

Aladdin is supposed to be hot and he looks like a gremlin. I AM SO UPSET

Just wait for the live-action version of Bambi.”

Yeah, like... he and Jasmine are pretty obviously in their late teens in the cartoon. 30-year-old Aladdin makes no sense. 18-year-old street urchins with monkey friends are endearing; 30-year-old ones are just depressing.

James Monroe Iglehart is currently playing Marquis de Lafayette/Thomas Jefferson in “Hamilton” on Broadway. He’s incredibly talented!

Much like the Trump presidency, it’s incredibly disheartening to me that people see this and think “yep!” I thought I was cynical but clearly I still have had too much faith in humanity.

At the least, Abu is cute.

Now playing

If you’re talking about James Monroe Iglehart, I agree! He was so great as the Genie (and hilarious as Coriolanus Burt on Kimmy Schmidt).

Can we ever mix this shit up - couldn’t they find a hilarious woman to play the genie? Or gender swap Aladdin and Jasmine? I know the point of remake after remake is that you don’t have to get creative, but, come on, get a little creative!

Did anybody ask for this movie?
