When I was suddenly given a cancer diagnosis, we were stunned. But, I later found out from my mother that he called and told her that she didn't need to worry. He was not ever leaving me and that he would take care of her only child no matter what.

Frankly, if you DON'T spend a ton of time thinking about World War Z after you read it, I'm fucking worried about you.
Of course! How did I not think of that?
Jose Mourinho is adding "5" to his list.
They ARE completely logical, which is the beauty of it. DEUTSCH MACHT SPAß.
Truly, the kugelschreiber is mightier than the sword.
In the before times, parents took an interest in their kids' extracurricular activities.
True. Without that last line, you'd get cut to ribbons here.
Would pay top dollar to watch her legitimately destroy Justin Beiber on the basketball court.
I used to work at a strip club in Dupont Circle D.C. that was a block away from the utterly fantastic Kramerbooks & Afterwords, a 24 hour bookstore and cafe.

I'm starting with the man in the mirror (Ooh!)
I am so sorry for your loss. I've got a 3 year old and a 1 year old right now, and I can hear them downstairs screaming, giving my wife holy hell. But I need to go hug them both, and hard, right now.
Oh my god. I read this and my heart broke for you, CJ. I'm a relatively new parent and hated that ad because it tapped into my fears of "what if something happens to my baby", but I never thought about those of you who had survived such an earth shattering loss. I'm just so, so sorry that this stupid ad caused you…
You have soooo many daughters! :)
My 12 year old daughter's mom died of cancer less than two years ago, and the McDonald's "Call your mom and tell her you love her" ad made her run out of the room and spend the rest of the night with her room closed.
man, amazing how much more poignant your post is to a guy like me who recently had his first child. Thanks for sharing, and god bless.
My friend lost his 12 year old son in a household accident. He was one of the parents blasting Nationwide on their Facebook page. He took great offense to the term "preventable household accidents"... as if every parent can foresee every action their kid will take and what consequences could arise from that.
Hard not to cry?? It's almost impossible not to cry just reading your post. The pain of losing a child is unfathomable to me.
