Plano kid, here, too! High five!

DIPG is an awful disease that takes you in an unfathomably awful way. It stole my daughter when she was five, so I both cried and cheered in a more direct way than most watching Lauren Hill’s exquisite bravery in the face of it.

George IV, you say? I really would have expected this work to have been commissioned by George II.

Meanwhile, my semester abroad in London in 1996 at the height of the mad cow brouhaha still disqualifies me in the US from donating blood.

I live in Orange County and am acquaintances with a few of the housewives. I’m closer with several people who are very close to many of the housewives, from their hair and makeup people to actual friends and neighbors. Whore for gossip that I am, I’ve been bombarding them with questions about Brooks and his “cancer”.

My son's godmother wrote the ESPN story. We are so proud of her - and him!

So proud of my son’s godmother, Alyssa Roegnik, who wrote this story! Does this make me cool by association, maybe even enough to get out of the greys?

Totally unnecessary input from a dude:

Having made the hop from LAX-MEL a million times to visit family (sans banging, unfortunately), I feel compelled to correct:

Quite literally, chopping off the hand that feeds you.

You’re not really a member of the runner club until you’ve had to confront the brown dread on a run. In my case:

I’m so sorry for your friends’ loss. My daughter died when she was five shortly after being diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor. It fucking sucks. Every person is different, but these are a few thoughts based on my own experience:

I was struck, watching the beginning of the video, how simply the way she holds her hands in her lap and makes inconsequential conversational gestures exhibits more grace and fluidity than I could muster in a lifetime.

Is this the view from her front porch where she can see Russia?

I look forward to reading your post in a year or two encouraging the next newby runner. Have fun and good luck!

If you’ve ever thought about completing a marathon, I promise you this: you can do it.

Just don't show her the video you took with your phone as a way of explaining exactly where the malfunction is.

It was a spur of the moment thing; very little advance planning...

Sadly, I would find that near impossible. VP candidates are almost always chosen to round out the ticket - to appeal to the part of the base that is not inclined to like the main candidate . Think JFK and LBJ. If Hillary gets the nomination, the odds of a double woman ticket are exceedingly small. If Bernie gets it,

If not for the glaring absence of a bright red sash to give the ensemble a bit of oomph, the top pic looks like it's from Gay Les Miz.
