It’s a 2WD Explorer. Tough sell in the snow belt coming into winter. It’s a shame really, it was my mom’s vehicle. She just didn’t drive in the snow. She was a retired widow who planned her activities around the weather. Vehicle is spotless.

The vehicle blue books at 9-11 private party and retail you see similar low mileage examples advertised in the 12-14 range. What hurts is I’m in the snow belt and people expect 10 year old vehicles to have rust issues. Crawl underneath this and you can see it’s really clean for it’s age, but getting the right buyer…
Ughh, that’s where I’m at right now. Trying to sell a very clean, low mileage vehicle (2010 with 34k) for an estate that just needs to go, can’t even use it for trade-bait since it’s an extra vehicle at this point. Fun times! Going to CarMax tomorrow to see what they’ll offer, if it’s even close to reasonable, I’m…
I sure do miss my old F-150 with the manual. One too many crashes on my dirtbike that made the drive home from a ride challenging with a 3rd pedal is why I got rid of it. I’ll probably never own another manual truck in my life and that does make me sad :( At least we can still get a few cars with a stick (for now).
Yup, you’re a weirdo! LOL Just kidding.
The 999 wasn’t much of a looker either. Maybe following the 916/996/998 was just an impossible task?
Who, me? Shit, the odds of me flying in a private jet are the same as me hitting the lottery. I’m just not butt hurt that others do have the wealth to do so.
5th Gear: Jealous much? The whiny Leftist bullshit on this site is getting to be a bit much.
They must use the theme song to Miami Vice (original TV show version) also.
If a higher octane is recommended, but a lower octane is OK, what that means is the car’s ECU and sensors can adjust the timing and fueling curves to minimize detonation, but at the expense of fuel economy and power. The S197 Mustang GTs with the 4.6 were shown to make better power in the midrange with part throttle…
High RPM WOT is where you’re less likely to have detonation, it’s the part throttle medium load situations where the ECU is trying to lean things out for fuel economy and emissions where you’re most likely to experience detonation.
Everyone keeps referring to the Kurds as our ally when they’re not. They are merely our friend as in the enemy of my enemy is my friend. Turkey is the actual ally of ours. They’re part of NATO, the North Atlantic TREATY Organization. I get it that our ally is the aggressor acting in bad faith, but we can’t just…
And those are all byproducts of someone making a mistake. The SUV isn’t actively trying to kill anyone. Even the burning of fuel is negligible as long as the emissions control systems are working properly. CO2 and H2O are not poisons.
DFP I understand, that is the hometown newspaper and GM needs all the good press they can get from them. But CNet is a big ol’ whiskey tango foxtrot for sure.
How is it actively harmful?
I’m just waiting for Toyota to redesign the Tundra and give us a hybrid option. I was in the market for a new truck this year and purposely went with a used truck instead of buying new because it has to be coming in the next year or 2 and I didn’t want to take the depreciation hit when that happens. Doesn’t have to be…
It started with my dad, but yet another Autoweek subscriber from the 80's who let it lapse once it went bi-weekly. Hmm, do we see a pattern developing? I was also active in their forum when it first started . It was a bit rough and tumble, which I enjoyed. Then they shut it down and re-launched it a year or so later as…
Using CFD to optimize the combustion chamber, intake, and exhaust was in it’s infancy. Not to mention pollution control systems. This car was less than 20 years removed from the heyday of the totally analog muscle car era that was crippled by emissions and we’re now more than 30 years removed from this car. Computing…
I wasn’t sure which way to vote, but my nostalgic memories of it’s little brother I learned to drive on, an ‘85 Mercury Cougar XR-7 w/5.0 and my general appreciation of all things ‘80's lead me to NP. 1st thing to do for the new owner is to swap back to sensible wheels and tires, those SN Cobra wheels don’t work. …
F1 would gladly have multiple races in the US if there were tracks and promoters who would pay the sanction fees that F1 wants.
