Back in the late 90s, there was a guy in Indiana (go figure) who had an IRL chassis with a Chevy small block that was street legal.  I saw it parked in the lot like a normal car at Eldora when I was there for a World of Outlaw race.

Not that I condone markups, but $50K on the Proto makes a lot more sense than the $60K markup a local dealer has on a Ford Lightning Platinum. One is a 1 of 240 limited edition sports car, the other is a mass produced truck in which 10s of thousands will be produced.

I ordered my wife an e-bike based on a recommendation from a friend without doing much research. It was a cheaper hub drive model rather than an integrated setup, but it’s rated at 750 watts. After we got it, I took a spin on it and my first words to her were “I need to up your life insurance” lol It’s way too much

Yeah, I-75 is mostly in the glaciated area of Ohio.  It doesn’t even start to roll a bit until south of Dayton.  The whole northwest corner of Ohio is boring to drive through.

When people say Ohio, they really mean I-90/I-80/the turnpike west of Cleveland. It’s glacial till with nothing but corn, soybeans, and wheat. I grew up there, but now live in Columbus. You’re absolutely correct about anywhere in Ohio that didn’t get graded by glaciers, especially southeast around the Hocking Hills.

Iowa was first and only in my thoughts. My family did a 3 week trip from Ohio to the Pacific Ocean and back in a motorhome. The stretch through Iowa in 90* heat was brutal. Plenty of places match it for the boring scenery (my home state on I-90/I-80/the turnpike west of Cleveland is up there for boring drives), but

Realistically, if you’re rich enough to own several cool cars, you’re probably not commuting back and forth to work like us pleebs and even your DD doesn’t rack up the miles.  Hell, when I had a fun 2nd car, there were years I didn’t drive it more than 1,000/year which is what lead me to sell it.  I didn’t see the

I just hope I can get a Z-71 with some options (adaptive cruise control is a must have for me) and leather in the mid $40s. I have a F-150 Platinum now and am spoiled by the niceties, but I am ready to downsize a bit.

Hell, that’s better than the 3.5 Ecoboost in my 2021 Ford Transit. Granted, the Transit uses the Gen 1 Ecoboost that debuted in 2011, but still! And the Transit feels pretty peppy. It cracks me up that a big ol’ cargo van has no problem hitting 80+ to merge onto a highway.

As someone who currently drives an F-150 4 door and is looking to downsize, price isn’t an issue. My needs have changed and I don’t need a full size that has a 10k+ towing capacity at the expense of it being cumbersome as a DD. I get that I’m in a minority among buyers, but we do exist.

I’m sure it does, but it’s driven mostly by my wife and she works from home, so if it’s snowing or raining hard, the car stays in the driveway, so I don’t think traction control would be the culprit (unless it’s malfunctioning). I’ve never seen a car wear out the rear brakes while the fronts still have plenty of life

Neutral:  I replaced the rear pads and rotors on my wife’s Audi A6.  It went pretty smoothly except for 1 caliper that was a bit recalcitrant to go back in.  What was surprising was it needed brakes in the rear at all, the car only has 42,000 miles.  The fronts are still plenty thick though.

911 GTS cab in a fun PTS color and an F-150 Platinum with the Powerboost drivetrain.

If I hit the lottery and buy a place with frontage on bayside type water like Naples or Ft Meyers FL it would be a cool toy just to cruise around the shallows and roll up to the dock for dinner in. Of course, I’d also have a real boat for going out into deep water. Until then, my retirement goals are to just be within

Covid is what stopped me. I was looking at a clean ‘02 996TT in Speed Yellow in late Feb of 2020. I thought the price was high by a couple thousand, so we didn’t make a deal at that time. Then Covid lockdowns started, the world panicked, Wall Street tanked so I went to try to make a deal again and it was sold That

Reverse:  I love me some final gen Thunderbirds.  I’m not old enough yet, but I could see me rocking one in my retirement years.  But that was the problem with them, no one wants a boulevard cruiser anymore.

Hmm, I’ll have to pay attention next time I fill up. Another commenter said it isn’t and I’ve never bothered to look. I put Sheetz 88 in my truck, but it is flex fuel certified up to E85.

You’re letting modern times color your perspective of the era these concepts come from. These pre-date the Kardashian shit by 15 years. And winning the Decathalon at a fully contested Olympics in that era was a huge deal, so it makes sense Ford would reference him

Probably. Columbus, OH isn’t the place where you need a Raptor, that’s for sure. But there’s enough $$$ floating around here where you’d think I’d see more than just 1 on the regular basis (a salesman at the Ford dealer I drive by every day).  I see plenty of diesel heavy duty trucks with a lift and wheels and those
