Considering how we didn’t cut spending and instead borrowed to keep spending up, I’d say no, it’s not logical at all. How much US debt do the Chinese own now?

When I first got the truck a couple months ago, I tested it on an empty road, going around a curve, it let me go left of center by half a truck width before kicking in, and we’re talking about a gentle bend in the road with decent center lane markings. Even in a straight line, it’ll let the truck get a tire on the…
Lane ping pong is a great name for it! LOL
My ‘16 F-150 Platinum has adaptive cruise and lane keeping assist. I agree with the above sentiments. The lane keeping sucks and I’ve disabled it. Even on it’s most aggressive setting, it lets the truck leave the lane. At best, it kicks in just as you’re making a correction and makes the steering feel funky. The…
Hmmm, what could have possible happened in the late ‘00's that lead to the military putting a halt to R&D on next generation weapons systems?
No. People who can afford to buy new will still buy new. Maybe they keep the car for 6 instead of 5 or 4 instead of 3, but new cars will still sell at similar rates. What it does bode well for are the 3rd and 4th owners when the car is now 10 years old and over 100K miles. They’l be able to get a couple years of…
Neutral: I’d like to. We’re in the market for a new vehicle for my wife. Our budget would put a leftover Honda Accord EX-L in play, but the wife really likes the CUV Coupes :eyeroll: We’ll probably wind up with a ‘16 or ‘17 BMW X4 if she has her way.
I guess I’m part of the problem. They were in Columbus, OH where I live and my wife and I were always talking about trying it (mostly just to drive a Smart car), but we never did. I didn’t realize they pulled out of my market in May until this article made me look it up.
I’m living this with my wife’s 2010 Corolla. Mechanically it’s perfect. Crawl underneath and the underside is surprisingly clean and rust free considering it’s spent it’s entire life in Columbus, OH. But there are lots of little issues where interior trim pieces have failed. A big one is the little stalk for the…
On one hand, I get it, on the other hand, just last week a Ferrari 575 Maranello went for less than $100k on BaT. Granted that was an F1 transmission and not a gated manual, but still! Nostalgia is a helluva drug.
I’m assuming the tune is part of the control based on this quote “human error on settings that the teams have no control over”. But since 3 of the 4 were on the same team as you noted, maybe that team did something with regards to cooling (taping the grill) that lead their engines to run hotter than the rest.
You’d think a spec engine wouldn’t be built to the ragged edge where higher temps than expected would be enough to cause major issues. Detonation means the engine was right on the edge with regards to compression ratio, timing, and fueling tables with regards to the octane of the spec fuel.
“but any manufacture digging their heels in to carry an artificially high work force is doomed” isn’t that ultimately what the UAW is striking about? To force the Big 3 to carry more than they need? I grew up in Avon Lake, Ohio, home to a Ford plant. My uncle retired from there in fact. The number of autoworkers on…
#1 is what the GVWR will be based on. Trucks are overbuilt to do #1 and #2 when overloaded by knuckleheads like ArrestMeRed and me lol #3 and #4 are probably orders of magnitude greater than the listed GVWR on any modern vehicle sold.
Maybe on the newest “half tons”, but my ‘11 was ~1800 based on the info tag on the door tag.
I once had 2.38 tons of gravel in the bed of my ‘11 F-150 long bed w/ payload package. Yes, I had almost 4800 pounds in the bed of a truck rated for 1800 lol It was a 3 mile drive from the supply yard to my house. Was I riding on the bump stops? Maybe. Would I do it again? No. But the truck survived.
Because not everyone needs the utility of the second set of doors. In the case of the Prado, you lose wheelbase and overall length along with the doors, improving maneuverability if you go off road. It’s why Jeep still makes the 2 door Wrangler. Then we have looks, do you think a 3 series looks better than a 4…
LOL I didn’t say I paid $20K less than sticker. I said I paid an $20K less than what the dealer was willing to come down to on the new ‘19s. I wasn’t going to buy used at first, but they were playing hardball and low balled my trade-in so I stared looking used. As for 5.0 vs. Ecoboost, I plan on keeping this truck for…
And I saved almost $20k buying a very clean 1 owner lease turn in ‘16 F-150 Platinum w/30k miles vs. what dealers were willing to do on new ‘19s on the lot just 2 months ago. Oh yeah, that also allowed me to get the 5.0 since the dealers were all stocking only EcoBoosts, so it helped me get it exactly how I wanted too …
New vs. used is highly dependent on make and model though. If you’re shopping for a CUV/SUV, I can see that, but some of the deals on lightly used sedans are screaming since dealers can’t move them.
